In 2005 Chris Hewett, Brandon Gamel, Caleb Hewett, and Marcus Ellis started Southland Sound. We all went to church together and we all loved bluegrass and gospel and we saw the old time music fading away. So we decided to do something about it. Chris sang lead and played rhythm guitar. Brandon played lead guitar and sang back up vocals. Caleb played the mandolin and Marcus played the bass. We started out just playing at our church but before long we started playing everywhere then we began looking for a banjo player that is when we found Jamie Skidmore. What made the original band so good was that we were all under 25years old. Thru the past few years we have went through many changes to get to were we are know Chris still sings most the lead and plays rhythm. Caleb plays mandolin and sings harmony. Our sister Amanda plays rhythm and sings lead and harmony. Our Dad Dwayne plays bass Bro Jake Michael plays banjo and sings Harmony and Chris Simpson plays fiddle and sings harmony and lead.
